Hindi Language written in davnagiri script is the official language of India.   Hindi is 4th most spoken language in the world.

My passion for teaching was revived in the late 90s when I attempted to teach Hindi to my own two daughters.  The journey of teaching Hindi to second generation children of Indian ancestry started by teaching at the India School every Sunday in Maryland where my two daughters went for various cultural activities for a few years. Later, I held Hindi classes from a friend’s basement and then at temples. The passion to teach Hindi continued and is only stronger today than anytime before. Over two decades, I have taught hundreds of students of all ages including adults.  I have come across second generation Indian youth who wish that their parents had forced them to learn Hindi or wish that they had learned it when they were young.  They felt that they had missed out on something!! Sure enough – language is a gateway to heritage, culture and ties to one’s own community which gives a sense of belonging.

Being Bi-lingual is an asset. Children have the capacity to learn multiple languages It improves cognitive skills, memory and brain function of children. Build foundation for second language/ language of origin from an early age. Translate the knowledge into high school credit, boost college application and subsequently the job resume as well.
